I have a hard time comprehending that anyone would actually complain of a lower skill level taking their time to shoot.(even if it is a little longer than norm) If the player is actually focusing on the table and not flitting around the bar chatting with everyone instead of shooting then how can you complain that someone is trying to improve their game? I know there is at least one exception to this in every division but in general these 'slow' players are trying to learn and improve their game. Maybe if you are so worried about time you should play in a faster paced league i.e. Valley.

I think teaching pace is just as important as any other part of the game. I was a captain for a while and made the mistake of letting new players shoot at a slow pace. I figured they wouldn’t have fun if I tried to increase their pace. Looking back, I realize it was poor coaching. Imagine a level 2 or 3, spending their first 3 sessions playing slow and then being forced to shoot at a 20 second pace in their first tournament. That person would probably be frustrated and pissed because they never had to play that way before. I’m guessing, if they learn at a quicker pace, they’ll learn to see the shots at a quicker pace. Besides, they get 2 time outs in case they don’t see a shot or the coach see’s a mistake in the making. But, then again, I’m too old to remember what it was like to learn this game, so may be totally wrong.

I agree with ScottH.
If new players feel "hurried" by APA time limits, they may go elsewhere to learn. We need 1's 2's and 3's so our 7's 8's and 9's will be able to play.

U Dog,
Imagine that person waiting 8 hours between matches in their first tournament, and then have to hurry their shots when the next match finally gets started. "frustrated and pissed" is right. I know.
And I know the long 8 hour wait was not because the 2's and 3's were taking to much time figureing out their shots.

If a 1,2 or 3 wants to learn, I doubt they would go elsewhere. I don't know of a better league to learn the game.

I think you guys misunderstood.....I meant if you are the one complaining that it takes too long to play here in the APA maybe it isn't the right format for you.
